Glossybox are celebrating their 3rd birthday this month so have included the 5 usual products and a bonus product in celebration of their birthday. Now before I begin breaking down the products I have to let you know that I am seriously disappointed with this box. When I initially subscribed to Glossy over 2 years ago the products I received every month were imaginative and inspiring. Of late I find that at best they are good, but never amazing to the point that I think to myself I have to re-purchase this!
If you have recently subscribed you may still be in the honeymoon period where you look forward to your box of surprises every month. I myself however dream of the ‘good old days’ when HD Brow Palettes and Caudalie serums were included in my monthly boxes. Lately nail polishes and tiny little perfume samples seem to be the norm, sorry Glossy but this is not good enough! OK then on with the review…
Kryolan for Glossybox Highlighter Cashmere – OK I will always give credit where it’s due. The fact that Glossy have teamed up with the master makeup makers over at Kryolan is just music to my ears. Any makeup addict will know that high-end does not always mean quality products. Don’t get me wrong I love my high-end products but feel you need to be informed before splashing the cash, that’s why I write this blog after all. So this is where Kryolan must take a bow. Pro makeup suppliers since 1945, I can’t imagine there is professional makeup kit in the land that doesn’t contain at least one of their products. Now although big in the pro-makeup world they are not really a mainstream company. So the fact that Glossy have introduced them to the masses is a fabulous move.
The highlighter itself leaves a subtle yet beautiful sheen on cheekbones, browbones, lips or anywhere you choose to apply it. Better still I imagine this will look so elegant and chic on every skin tone, it’s going straight into my pro makeup kit. Check it out…
Figs & Rouge Mini Hand Cream – The second of this months saving graces is this beautiful hand cream. Made with natural ingredients yet smelling like sweeties it’s absolutely gorgeous. It absorbs like a dream and leaves not a trace of grease on your hands after it’s massaged in. Now if your hands are super dry and cracked this wont be strong enough to give you the hydration you need, but if your hands need only a little TLC then this stuff is perfect.
Yves Rocher Pink Nail Polish – Arghhhhhhh Glossy I am despairing… Why, why, why do you feel it necessary to send me nail polishes every month. I have been saying this for my last three reviews, please stop with the polishes, I’m boooooooooored of them! I know this tiny little bottle is a bonus product but come on, can’t you guys think of something a bit different? Guys I’m so sorry but I can’t even bring myself to review yet another nail polish from Glossy. If I wanted nail polishes every month I’d save myself the subscription and nip to boots and pick my own colours!
Philip Kingsley Elasticizer – Now then here is a product that I was ridiculously excited to try. This Elasticizer was created specifically for my hero Audrey Hepburn.
Healthy hair stretches when wet before returning to its original length when dry. However hair in poor condition snaps and breaks when stretched. Intensely moisturising Elasticizer delivers a rush of moisture to the hair’s cuticle; suppleness, elasticity and bounce appear instantly without weighing down or coating the hair. Visible results from one application that improve with continued use.
So within 5 minutes of opening my box I was in the bath with this slapped all over my hair. I popped on my shower cap and waited the instructed 20 minutes. I then followed up with my usual shampoo and conditioner. After drying my hair off I was absolutely gutted to see that this had done absolutely nothing for my hair…gutted! Back in the day this may have been a wonder product, but since the invention of Morrocanoil which absolutely does leave your hair supple, elasticised, bouncey and shiny after one use, I would say don’t waste your money.
Comfort Zone Essential Cleansing Milk – Again credit where it’s due, this is a good product to include. For me however I would never want to use a product that is a one fits all. This is such a product, it claims to be suitable for all skin types and is not formulated specifically for dry and sensitive skin such as mine. Unfortunately I can’t take chances with my skin and at long last have perfected my skin care routine so have no need for this product. All is not lost however, as it looks like a lovely product and is full-sized, so I’ll put it in my present box and pass it onto a friend I know will love it for Christmas.
Right then that leaves me one last product to review…
Lalique L’amour Perfume Sample – Hmmmmmm I have a serious problem with receiving tiny little perfume samples in my Glossyboxes. I personally feel that these are a massive cop-out and should never ever be counted as one product. I can get these free from boots or even in a magazine, I don’t need to pay Glossy a subscription for the privilege! To be sending these is not good enough Glossy, I know I’m not the only blogger to stress this point!
Now as I keep saying credit where it’s due. The Kryolan highlighter and Fig & Rouge hand cream were absolute hits for me. The Elastizer and Comfort Zone face wash were great products to include but they didn’t work out for me which I will admit is not Glossy’s fault. But…sending me nail polishes yet again and crappy little perfume samples is a cop-out and has kind of ruined the whole box for me.
Sorry about the whinging guys but I just wish that Glossy would get it together like the old days where each box was a joy to open and packed full of incredible products! Do you guys agree or are you in love with your box? I’d love to hear your comments.
PEACE & LOVE
