If you saw my Winter Wonderland post you’ll know I’m off to an amazing fundraising ball in Nov. In true ‘Sonya’ fashion I have started the hunt for a dress 4 months in advance! I mean there is some method in my madness…the sales!
Now I would normally hit up dress agencies or hire shops for this kind of event but this time of year sees just about every shop reducing some of their stock. So this week myself and my good friend Sarah have been trawling the shops for gowns. The first place we hit up was The Confetti Box. This is a wedding shop in Manchester that also stocks lots of pre-loved gowns and they currently have an amazing sale on.
Now I searched the rails but unfortunately could find nothing. Sarah on the other hand found a few options…
The first was an amazing silver glitzy number, the only problem…a stick women would have trouble fitting into it. It was actually so small it couldn’t even be zipped up on the mannequin! HaHa moving swiftly on!
The second dress was a really unusual black and white number that looked nothing on the hanger. After persuading Sarah to try it on it quickly became apparent that it was ‘the’ dress…sigh! How perfect does it look?! So that’s Sarah sorted, now for me. We moved on to Kendals in Manchester and had a little look in Adrianna Papell and Phase Eight. Obviously there were loads of amazing dresses but unfortunately they were a little too expensive.
At this point I’m kind of wishing for a fairy god mother to wave her magic wand and pull a Cinderella on me! All is not lost however, I so happen to have an amazing dress I wore to my graduation or I have a real life amazing Mother who is a very talented tutu maker. I’m considering having her make me a full length tutu dress, she just doesn’t know it yet…
So I guess it’s a work in progress. If you guys have any ideas on where I might get an amazing gown please leave me comment.
PEACE & LOVE
