OK so you want to start building your beauty stash and treat yourself to some really nice makeup. With so much on offer where do you start? My advice is with foundation, however with so many to choose from it can be hard to find out where to drop the cash!
Any of my regular glam readers know I would advise anyone and everyone to go straight to Giorgio Armani and get colour matched for their Lumious Silk foundation. You can check out my previous posts here and here if you need convinving.
Yesterday my SIL decided that she would like to invest in an extra special foundation to go with her Christmas haul of makeup, check it out here. Going into the beauty hall and deciphering not only what the difference between all the premium products is and which are best for you can be daunting.
My advice is to read reviews and see what people are saying is fab, then go around the concessions, speak with the makeup artists and get colour matched for whatever takes your eye. Ask them to try them on you and if possible get samples. Then give it at least a couple of hours to see how your skin feels and how long it holds up.
I have been doing this a long time and by far the nicest I have ever found is Luminous Silk. I have converted so many people I really think I should get comission. So when the SIL decided to drop some cash on a little treat I whisked her straight down to Giorgio Armani.
The colour match was a 6 and it’s perfect for her skin tone…wish I could get my perfect colour in this country, I have to get mine sent in from the states…sob! Have a little look and see what you think, personally I think it’s flawless and have never seen her skin look better.
After finding your perfect foundation the next thing you need is an amazing blusher. I always say start with your base and move up from there…kinda like building a house…not to mention perfect skin is set to be the biggest beauty trend this year!
We went and had a little look-y at what NARS had on offer, obvisously there was a lot of beautiful colours for her skin tone but as their makeup artist was busy we nipped over to Illamasqua. They too had a lot of beautiful blushers which were perfect for her skin tone. I swear by NARS as my holy grail blusher but as a very close second choice Illamasqua are fab. Their pigments and staying power are not to be messed with, another bonus is they are slightly cheaper at £18.00. Yolanda had one of their deeper colours Allure applied and it just looked perfect, have a look.
With the exception of concealer that’s the base covered. I’ll be doing a few more ‘Buying the Right Products’ and ‘Products I wish I’d Never Bought’ posts so don’t forget to follow me on here or bloglovin to get regaular updates.
PEACE & LOVE
