One of my favourite posts to read is how other people store their beauty stashes. I love having a nosey at how other people keep theirs organised. I have changed mine a lot over the years as I never seem to get it right, I think this time I’m finally happy with it though! Fancy a little tour of how I have mine now?
Years back I used to use my spare room as a dressing room. The amount of people we have coming stay has made this a little impracticle these days. Beauty wise I tend to just keep my creams, perfumes, electrical hair stuff and sleep in rollers in our bedroom as I don’t want to take over all the space with my massive stash of beauty products, clothes, jewellery and accessories.
The bedside cabinet
I keep my electrical hair items in my ottoman under my dressing table.
Shoved away in the alcove of my bedroom I have three little baskets that I store my fragranced moisturisers, extra makeup bags and my sleep in rollers in.
It goes without saying Sleep in Rollers need to be in the bedroom, doesn’t it?
My perfumes are now the only products I keep on my bedroom dressing table, the rest of the room and the draw I’ve left for Ché’s stuff…aren’t I kind?! ;O)
Now I know that this is a bit OTT but I like to keep all my tanning products in one place. In my spare room I have a chest of drawers that I keep some of my costume jewellery in. I have reserved the bottom drawer for my tanning products…I hope I’m not the only one with this many…I suppose it’s safer than sunbeds though!
I’m sure you can see a trend developing here…I am a bit obsessive about having things organised and in one place so the dresser draw in my spare room is reserved for my nail products.
As far as all my hair products go I used to find it a complete pain keeping track of them. I swear there is a magical land that bobbles, kirby grips and hair brushes disapear into. To solve the problem my Mum made me this gorgeos caddy that holds everything from my hairspray to my huge barrel brushes…thanks Mum x
Now then, you may have noticed a distinct lack of makeup thus far. That’s because I have moved it all downstairs into my living room. Since we got a TV with a youtube app on my favourite thing to do is to put my makeup on in the lounge whilst watching tutorials…what the hell did we do before youtube?
In my lounge I have a couple of double cabinets that just seem to collect junk. Today I cleared one out to make way for my overflow makeup. You know all the stuff you seem to collect but don’t use all the time? The stuff you can’t throw away because there will be a time when you need to use that particular shade of blusher or lipstick, or you will need to raid your emergency brush stash because the dog stole your fave blending brush. Well this is how I decided to organise my overflow stuff…and my massive box of eyelashes and my hair extensions…oh and my palettes that have never had a home…until now!
OK so the only thing missing is my main makeup collections.
First up is my everyday makeup bags. The first is filled with my go to brushes and the second is filled with all my old faithfuls that I use on a day to day basis.
Second is my record box as my Mum calls it. This is one of the best things I have ever bought to store my makeup in…apart from my Muji acrylic draws. I store all my fave makeup in here so I can just grab it when I am doing a more complicated or glammed up look. It has a two tier pull out shelf that is mega handy.
On the top tier I put all my fave brushes and on the second one all my fave single eyeshadows, eyeliners, brow products etc.
In the bottom is a large compartment seperated into four sections. In here I keep my foundation, primer and setting sprays in the first section. In the second I keep extra powders and contouring products. The third is reserved for my favourite bronzers, blushes and highlighters. Lastly I have a section for my M.A.C. pots and all those little eye palettes that seem to end up all over the house if you don’t give them a home.
So that’s my little tour around my collection. I reckon some time in the future I’ll do a few posts on what’s in each area in a little more depth…there’s nothing better than having a little route through other peoples makeup collections is there?
PEACE & LOVE
