RED CARPET REPORT: Grammys 2014

Music and Fashion…is there any better fusion? With the exception of the Oscars, the Grammys is my most exciting red carpet. The outfits can be as daring as the girls…and boys want because its all supposed to rock and roll baby!

Last night was one of my favourite carpets for a long time. There was no arrivals in alien eggs, boob baring seashell catsuits or leopard print monstrosities to be seen. In fact the worst dressed were few and far between. Joan Rivers is going to have a hard time narrowing down her best dressed list today!

Lets have a little look-y at what the music industry’s biggest stars threw on to collect their awards.

Worst Dressed

Image

Oh Lorde…an absolute deserved winner in her musical categories of song of the year and best pop solo performance buuuut…in this Balenciaga dress and tractor tread footwear…not so much!

Image

Sara Bareilles in Blumarine. With exception of the orange/red shoes and bag…hello hot colour for 2014…this outfit was a bit of a disaster for me, it kinda looks like she fell in a chicken coop on the way to the red carpet.

Image

Zendaya Coleman in Emanuel Ungaro. Now Zendaya’s hair and makeup is probably one of the best I saw on the red carpet last night however…that outfit was absolutely horrendous…Zendaya what were you thinking babe?

Image

Natasha Bedingfield in Christian Siriano. This dress isn’t an absolute disaster, I’m loving the fashion forward concept but…the top half kinda doesn’t match the bottom half for me. It’s really a bit messy at the bottom, I think it would’ve worked better if it was more tapered and trained out at the back…just my opinion.

Image

Image

Paris Hilton in House of Milani. I would have removed the sleeves, gaudy neck and made it backless to the v and then maybe it would’ve been wearable…actually maybe not!

Image

Paula Patton in Nicolas Jebran. Oh Paula what in the hell were you thinking…?

Kinda Undecided

There were a few outfits that weren’t necessarily a fail but at the same time didn’t knock it out of the pak either!

Image

Madonna in Ralph Lauren. The suit was kinda rockin but the grill, the cane, the hat, the silver glove…meh…I’m over this look.

Image

Alicia Keys in Armani Privé. A beautiful dress but the best option for Alicia? I’m really not sure.

Image

Pink in Johanna Johnson. I don’t know if its that this dress doesn’t suit Pink or if it’s that it’s predominantly satin but something is off here for me!

Kinda Fabulous

Image

Beyoncé in Michael Costello. Paris if you want tips on how to wear a sheer dress with class and style go and speak to Queen Bey!

Image

Rita Ora in Lanvin. Such a change from a full on gown, Rita looked beaut in this gorgeous metallic green(ish) dress. Also one of my best hair and makeup nominees!

Image

Iggy Azalea in Elie Saab. Oh I love me an Elie Saab creation and Iggy looked incredible in this white/silver gown!

Image

Bonnie McKee in Memeka by Gustavo Cadile. The boys are loving blue this award season but Bonnie most definitely let them know girls will not be out done on the red carpet…and would you just look at that bag!

Image

Amber Rose in Naeem Khan. I mean…she just had a baby a year ago! Amazing!

Best Dressed

OK now there were a lot of incredible outfits last night making it hard to choose my ultimate best dressed. The ladies that went for the sparkly numbers and also those that went for the ethereal dresses were killing it for me. Lets have a little peek.

Image

Ciara in Emilio Pucci. So you’re 7(ish) months pregnant and have your biggest event of the year…well maybe second for Ciara this year. You need to look amaze so what in the hell do you do? Call Emilio Pucci of course! I mean…she looks incredible!

Image

Chrissy Teigen in Johanna Johnson. Now when Pink wore one of her dress it may not have worked out buuut…when John Legend’s wife opted for this glitzy fishtail number a resounding round of we bow down could be heard from all around the red carpet!

Image

Colbie Callait in Ezra Couture. How amazing is this dress? The most beautiful shade of red I have seen in ages and it fits her like a glove…massive dress envy going on here!

Image

Kacey Musgraves in Armani Privé. Keeping her skin pale, makeup and manicure neutral and her accessories minimal was a smart move as it shows of the ethereal beauty of this dress perfectly.

Image

Katy Perry in Valentino. I meeeeaaaaaan…WOW! Could this delicately beautiful gown be any more perfect for Katy, the best I have ever seen her look. Totes would’ve been my best dressed had it not been for…

Image

Taylor Swift in Gucci. Seeing this dress pictured does not do it justice. Gucci’s perfect chain mail gown was absolutely breathtaking on Tay Tay as she walked down the red carpet. Teamed with a pair of Jimmy Choo’s and Lorraine Schwartz jewellery this outfit is maybe my fave so far this award season. Oscar girls you better pull something amazing out of the bag because this is going to take some beating!

Image

Hair and makeup wise Taylor was flawless, she dropped her signature red lip in favour of a nude one and teamed it with a beautiful silver inspired smoky eye and slick ponytail…head to foot perfection…and my best hair and makeup winner to boot. Also did you see the little ode to her love of red on her toenails? Cute!

Phew what a night…sooooo many beautiful looks and I haven’t even mentioned the boys! What about you guys, what were your best and worst looks of the evening?

PEACE & LOVE
