Today I paid the CHANEL Beauty concession a visit. My mission was to find a different foundation. You see I have been raving about Giorgio Armani’s Luminous Silk in shade 3.75 for ages. Now you may be wondering why I want another foundation if I’ve already found my Holy Grail. The problem is it can only be purchased from America…nightmare!! My poor parents spent 20 hours of their recent three week holiday looking for a Giorgio Armani Beauty Concession in Florida. They eventually hit gold at Neiman Marcus in Orlando…very grateful daughter breathing a sigh of relief here!
If you want to know what’s so special about this incredible foundation check my cult classics post. Now I can’t imagine that I will ever find a foundation that matches up to my precious Luminous Silk. The colour is just perfection! It has a beautiful rose undertone that matches my skin perfectly…if you’re reading this Mum and Dad your time was not wasted, it is still my all time favourite!
Now my parents were kind enough to get me two pots of my beloved foundation which is now being treated a bit like a precious elixir that must rarely be used. That my dears is why I need a back-up!
You would think that finding a rose undertoned foundation would be simple then, right? Oh no, it’s an absolute blinkin mare!! Hardly any of the high end beauty concessions could accommodate my pink-y skin when I checked about six months ago. I decided today was the day that I would do the rounds once more to check if anything new has arrived on the market. I was not disappointed when I enquired at CHANEL!
Their Pro Lumiére has waved bye-bye and made way for their far superior (in my opinion) Perfection Lumiére. This foundation claims to be long wearing and buildable to help conceal those problem areas. It comes in 20…oh yeah you read that right…20 different shades. Any skin tone, from yellow, to rose, to neutral will find their perfect match here!
The very helpful Dean at Trafford Centre Selfridges prepped my skin and applied this gorgeous foundation for me and I have to admit I’m in love! Now I have to be 100% truthful…my Luminous Silk still wins hands down but as a runner up this one is not far off the mark. Firstly the colour match is not to be messed with. I have to hand it to the people over at CHANEL Beauty they have really accommodated an array of different skin tones perfectly. They seem to understand that not every person wants a yellow-y, golden foundation…take note Bobbi Brown!
The consistency is lovely, very easy to apply and very buildable! The smell is lush and the overall finish is really lovely. Very understated and classic looking this foundation is just like your own skin…but perfect.
Now something I must mention is that Dean also applied the LE BLANC DE CHANEL Sheer Illuminating Base before applying the foundation. On it’s own it made a massive difference. It reduced the pores and calmed my skin, best of all however is it massively reduced the redness in my cheeks…score!! If I was to pair this amazing primer with my Luminous Silk I imagine the results would be amazing…I just might have to try it out!
Another product Dean applied that I can’t flipping get out of my mind is the SOLEIL TAN DE CHANEL Bronzing Makeup Base. Now don’t be put off by the colour, this really is a Universal…it’s all in the name…shade for everyone. Applied after you’re done with your foundation this buildable gel bronzer is perfect for contouring or for adding a bit of zhuzh to your skin on those paler days!
All in all I’m 100% sold on the LE BLANC DE CHANEL Sheer Illuminating Base…it is pure magic in a pot. The Perfection Lumiére is a lovely product that does deliver what is says on the tin, EXCEPT it’s durability. It does not last the 15 hours they claim it will. I’ve had it on about 9 hours and it’s already a little patchy…not horrendous but not perfect! Finally the SOLEIL TAN DE CHANEL Bronzing Makeup Base is an absolutely beautiful product that comes in at £31.00..I think I’ll be adding it to my birthday wish list!
So guys as always please get in touch and let me know your thoughts! I’m desperate to find a great alternative foundation that will suit my rose undertone. If any of you have any suggestions pleeeeeeeaaaaaase let me know.
PEACE & LOVE
